Portimão

A nice park with a cafe near the waterfront

Portimao is the main shopping town for the western Algarve. There is definitely some tourism but the city feel more local than other coastal towns.

We stayed in a nice little hotel in the centre of town, only a couple of hundred metres from the rail station.  The hotel, called The Made Inn, was in an older renovated building (2019.  The rooms are small but with modern appointments. It was a very comfortable and inexpensive place to stay.

After arriving we wandered downhill toward the waterfront, found a nice little cafe and enjoyed some sangria.  We were up early the next morning and went out looking for breakfast. Only a few cafes were open with limited menus.  Coffee and nata was breakfast.  after breakfast we checked out, we left our luggage with the staff for a few hours while we explored the town until our train departed at 1550.

We will be staying in Lagos for the next 9 nights.
