Arrived in Tenerife

After a long day of air travel, 30 hours in Lisbon and another flight, we finally arrived at the Tenerife North airport yesterday evening.  We are spending our first three nights in La Laguna, a town near the airport, to acquaint ourselves with our surrounding and acclimatize to the 8 hour time change.

We spent most of the day strolling around town and checking out our surroundings.  The weather is perfect. 22C in the afternoon.  Being a Sunday, the town was filled with local families coming out for a late breakfast or lunch.  The streets in the centre of town are virtually traffic free so there is lots of space for kids to play and for the cafés  to expand into the street.

It is a laid back town with lots of stores to entice visitors to spend some money before they catch their plane home.  Although there are plenty of tourists but we heard virtually no English being spoken, but nearly all of the staff in stores and restaurants could speak English.

Below are a few photos from La Laguna.

A huge interesting mural on this 4 story building.

Different palm trees, never encountered before.

A climbing rock located in an activity park in town. In the park there is a BMX track, a skate park and a large playground.

One of the popular plazas in La Laguna

Today we are taking it easy. We  went for a walk and picked up a few needed items then stopped for lunch.  Tomorrow we are going to Puerto De la Cruz, on the north coast. There is bus line that connects most locations on the island. We purchases a bus pass. It is like a pre-paid credit card that one can top-up at various locations.   We will see how well it works tomorrow.

So far we are liking Tenerife.....   🍷🍺😉
